25 pages, Item 1450417CA, $34.98
Beethoven composed this work, his only violin concerto, in 1806, in the same year that he composed the Symphony No. 5, the Rasoumowsky Quartets, and the Piano Concerto No. 4. It was dedicated to Franz Clement, who at its premiere separated the first movement from the second and third movements and fiddled some of his own works in between, with the violin turned upside-down! We can assume that Beethoven never spoke to him again. And needless to say the world took this concerto to heart, as it has never left the repertoire. This book/CD package consists of a printed music score and two compact discs which include two versions of each song from the book. The first version is a complete version with soloist, that you can practice along with. The second version is a full stereo orchestral accompaniment, minus the soloist, that you will use for performances!

| Giuseppe Tartini - Seven Sonatas 104 pages, Item 1450116CA, $17.95
Violinists will know Italian composer Giuseppe Tartini as the man who introduced the concept of "resultant tone" in music, as well as introducing violinists to thicker strings and lighter bows than what was used up until his time. His technical proficiency on the instrument was well-known as demonstrated in this collection of transcriptions of seven of his sonatas. Written for solo violin with piano accompaniment, this compilation includes his Sonata in G Minor known throughout history as the Devil's Trill, so named because Tartini swore that the music came to him in a dream where the devil himself was playing the music. | | |
